Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information when you use ToolBoxGenie at https://toolboxgenie.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

• The tools run entirely in your browser. The text, numbers and files you put into them are never sent to us.
• We do not ask for or hold accounts, names or email addresses.
• We show advertising through Google AdSense, which sets cookies and may use your data as described below.
• One local preference — your light or dark theme choice — is stored on your own device and never transmitted.

What you type into a tool

Every calculator, converter, text tool and developer utility on this site executes as JavaScript inside your browser tab. When you paste JSON into the formatter or enter a salary into a loan calculator, that data is processed on your device and discarded when you close or reload the page.

There is no upload endpoint. This is not a promise about how we handle your data on a server — it is a statement that no such transfer happens in the first place. The same applies to any image or PDF tools: files are read from disk into browser memory and written back to your downloads folder without a network request.

The one exception: the API tester

The API tester exists to send an HTTP request, so it necessarily uses the network. Two things are worth being precise about. The request goes directly from your browser to the address you type — it is not proxied, logged or inspected by us, and we deliberately do not operate a relay for it. And whatever you put in that request, including any token or password, is sent to that third-party server, which will handle it under its own policies, not ours.

Nothing entered into the API tester is written to storage. Its request history is held in memory for the life of the tab and is discarded when you close it, specifically so that credentials are never persisted to your disk.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested: the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string. These server logs are used for security and to diagnose faults, and are retained for a limited period.

Local storage on your device

ToolBoxGenie stores a single value in your browser’s local storage: your theme preference, so the site does not flash the wrong colour scheme on your next visit. It contains no identifier, is readable only by this site, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Advertising

This site is free and funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising partners operate independently of us and their data practices are governed by their own policies.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.
• Advertising partners never receive the contents of a tool. What you type into a calculator or text box is not exposed to the advertising script, because it is never sent anywhere.

Where required by law, a consent mechanism is presented before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you may change or withdraw that consent at any time.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting aggregate measurement to understand which tools are used, and no analytics product that builds a profile of an individual visitor. No analytics script has access to the contents of any tool.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, this is largely academic — but if you believe a child has provided information to us, please get in touch.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data about you. Since we do not hold accounts or user records, in most cases there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Requests relating to advertising cookies should be directed to the relevant advertising vendor, whose controls are linked above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
